Golden Globes merupakan ajang penghargaan bergengsi yang pertama kali diadakan pada tahun 1944 lalu. Tidak seperti Academy Awards, Golden Globe Awards tidak hanya memberi penghargaan terhadap industri perfilman saja, tetapi juga terhadap industri pertelevisian.

Namun, sayangnya, Golden Globes menuai sejumlah kontroversi, salah satunya mengenai badan voting Hollywood Foreign Press Association (HFPA)—selaku pelaksana penghargaan tersebut—yang dinyatakan rasis. Menurut laporan dari Los Angeles Times, tidak ada anggota berkulit hitam di badan voting tersebut.

Akibat kontroversi itu, Golden Globes akhirnya tidak ditayangkan di televisi dan juga tidak ada bintang-bintang Hollywood yang menghadiri acara penghargaan tersebut. Meski begitu, pengumuman pemenang tetap dilaksanakan melalui Twitter pada Minggu, 9 Januari 2022.
